This map includes the form of trees and their reaction to light, the eerie, almost insectile look of orchids, the living root bridges of south India, the Lithops, which are the living stones of the Amazonian forest and finally, the willow tree, which to me defines 'the dark curtains of vegetation' as mentioned in the excerpt.
